- This movie is SO good if you're looking for a mystery. It's not super scary but it makes you think. It's about a blind girl named Ivy who lives in a village in the middle of the woods. They are not allowed to venture into the forest for fear of the unnamed creatures in red who live within. They aren't the most terrifying things ever, but they can be shocking. Lucius, the man she will marry, wants to go through the woods to "town" to get medicine and supplies, but the village elders are completely against it. When a mentally disturbed man stabs Lucius, Ivy decides she must complete the trip through the forest her fiance wished to begin to get hep for him. The picturesque little village holds dark and chilling secrets, and before Ivy leaves on her trek she must uncover them all. Not too many jump-scares. The plot is more creepy/thoughtprovoking than scary. The movie is completely appropriate, the PG-13 rating is because of a few gory scenes. Maybe not for little kids, but I think a mature 11-12 year old could handle it.
