- This was such a funny movie I thought that I was about to cry I was laughing so hard. :)
- "Goonies never say die!" ~ How far would you go to save your home, your school, your beloved town? Would you try to outsmart a family of mobsters? Follow an ancient map to a legendary treasure-filled ship? Befriend a so-called "monster"? Walk the plank? Well, the Goonies would… all in the name of saving the only life they've ever known. This motley crew of adventurous kids—Data, Chunk, Mouth, and Mikey—each bring their own unique strengths (and hilarious weaknesses) to the table as they set out on a quest to save their town from being swallowed up by greedy land developers. When Mikey discovers an old pirate map in his attic, the gang, joined by two girls, Andy and Stef, embarks on a wild underground journey in search of the hidden treasure of the long-dead pirate, One-Eyed Willie. This movie is a total ride—funny, suspenseful, and packed with iconic one-liners that you'll probably quote forever. With unforgettable characters and just the right mix of humor and danger, The Goonies delivers an edge-of-your-seat adventure that keeps you laughing, gasping, and cheering the whole way through. That said, there are a few things to keep in mind before watching. The so-called “monster” mentioned throughout the film might sound scary at first, but when he’s finally revealed, you’ll see he’s not actually frightening at all. In fact, he’s a kind-hearted man with facial differences, sadly mistreated by his own family. Think Hunchback of Notre Dame vibes—more misunderstood sweetheart than actual monster. He ends up being one of the sweetest and most lovable characters in the whole movie. There’s also a decent amount of language and a few innuendos, so I’d recommend it for ages 13 and up. And while there are a couple of jumpy or intense moments, it’s not really a scary movie. It leans way more into thrilling and adventurous than anything gory or horrifying. Overall, this film is a total knockout—full of heart, laughs, and just the right amount of suspense and drama. Happy watching!
