The Barrett couple and their two sons, Jesse and Sam have lived a peaceful life in a safe, suburban setting. The family have average problems, such as their distaste for their son's older friend, but nothing too severe. Suddenly, strange occurrences begin happening around their home, and they first blame their son, before realizing some paranormal forces may be at play. They later discover that these forces ARE interfering with their lives. Secrets are uncovered about similar doings, blamed mostly on the spooky ghoul, Sandman, or a species of aliens labelled The Greys. The family has to fight to save their family and whether or not they succeed is open to interpretation. I love the style of this film. Although there are many scenes with traditional dark lighting, many of the scary scenes are in plain daylight, adding to the ominous tone and bringing forth a feeling of overpowering evil. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Just please, don't watch it at night. It's genuinely scary and I've made that awful mistake.
